Why do your refrigeration gaskets tear and come apart? There are several reasons.
1) Some commonly used disinfectants will dry out and harm the gasket. You should not be using bleach. Use warm water and a mild dish soap.
2) Do not use scour pads or other abrasives the clean the gasket. Only use a soft cloth, toothbrush or other soft bristle brush, or sponge.
3) Gaskets in harsh environments, like commercial kitchens needed to be cleaned often. Leaving them full of grease, crumbs, and other dirt will cause them to mold and tear.
